Google Ads?

I’m thinking of getting rid of the google ad -block on the right side of the page. I don’t know, It’s not like I pick and choose what ads go there so I may see everything from a reformed book store to information on purchasing Rick Warren titles–neither of which I really support. What would you do? I know I have a copy line saying that the ads do not imply that I endorse them, but is that enough? What do you think?

Prayer Request: My Family?the Reynoso’s

My wife woke up screaming at 3:40 am. I was in the delivery room with her when we had Josias, and even then all she did was moan loudly. She has an insanely high pain threshold from having a long history of gastrointestinal problems and motility issues so back then I knew that she was in great pain to be showing it with those loud moans. This screaming was worst.

Sharpen your Heretic Sword because here goes: Does total depravity mean total inability to respond to the message? Indeed, does being dead in trespasses and sin mean that men can?t even hear the message?

Prayer Request: Rolfe Family

Here is an excerpt from April 4,2004

My step-dad Jasper, was diagnosed with bladder cancer a few
months ago, and they thought they had caught it in time for chemo to take care
of it. As of last Wednesday, they have
learned that the cancer is growing, in spite of the chemo.

Here is an update from today:

Jasper’s hospice nurse evaluated his condition yesterday and
told my mom it appears Jasper might have less than 2 weeks left, at this
point. He has deteriorated rapidly,
since his prognosis in December.

Pray for Jaspers who may not be a believer. Pray for the
family and this time of heavy trial. Here’s a link to their prayer request page.

Update: As some of you know, my step-dad Jasper is
dying. He was diagnosed with bladder cancer some time ago, went through
the usual course of treatments and eventually they quit working. In
December he was given a prognosis of 6 months or less. Last week, he
was given 2 weeks or less, and as of yesterday, the hospice nurse
changed that again, to a few days, at best.

My mom is taking comfort in the Scriptures, and is asking folks to pray - and I am doing the same.

Please remember Jasper and Estella and as the Lord leads your prayers
today, and in the days to come. We’re hanging around the house waiting
for that phone call. This is a very difficult time for alot of us.

UPDATE: Jaspers has passed away on Feb 11, 2005. Offer a prayer request or words of comfort here.

The Simple and Glorious Gospel of God

I?m one of those crazy folk that think that God?s message of salvation, the good news, breaks through into men?s lives in many different ways and models of presentation.

D-Link Stole From Me

I bought this KVM Switch from newegg.com. They rock with
computer hardware at competitive prices. Thing is, I send in the rebate to
D-Link some 6-8 weeks ago and they send me a card saying my rebate is denied
because of an invalid UPC code. So I call them up and they ask me if I plan to
resubmit. I ask them how am I supposed to resubmit if I sent them the original.

?Well sir, do you remember how much the rebate was for??

?I don?t have a clue. I bought the thing weeks ago. I don?t
even remember what I bought. I would guess twenty bucks.?

?Sir, it was ten dollars.?

?Okay. Regardless, I still can?t send you the UPC code since
I sent you the original.?

?It wasn?t valid. Your rebate is denied.?

?Then send me back my receipt.?

?As our policy says, those items become our property.

?Let me get this straight. I send you a rebate form, my
receipt and my ONLY UPC code from the box, which effectively means if anything
happens I can?t return it to where I bought it?and you?re telling me that I can?t
get back the proof of purchase.?

?Sir, it?s our pol??

?Yeah, I got you. What?s your name?? pause ?Thanks [Steve].
This has nothing to do with you. I?m reporting your company to the Better
Business Bureau. This is ridiculous. Good day.?

First Evangelical Blog Awards Finalist

Cue 20th Century Fox Fanfare

The Finalists for the Evangelical Blog Awards have been
announced with yummy goodies in all categories. Somehow this site has
managed to remain in the running under the Apologetics category and still no
outcry of ?foul!? or ?heretic!?

With such fine apologist?s as Razor?s Kiss, Real Clear
Theology
, Joe Missionary and Weapons of Warfare on the field I?m sure that the ?heretic!?
cry may even rise from my own category! Either way, if it makes you ill
thinking that my site can be crowned Best Evangelical Blog in Apologetics make
sure to pray earnestly and get out and vote for one of these other guys during
the allotted two days when the polls are opened. Otherwise, my hands are clean
of this matter.

Also, look forward to the Salon du Refus??my
completely arbitrary and likely fanciful choosing of Blogs not in the Awards!

The Polls are now officially opened! Send in your 1 Vote for any of the fine blogs mentioned or the Archive. Send an email to eblogawards@gmail.com
with your vote. (Plus check out my sleek new graphic on the Lower Left Hand Corner!)

Thanksgiving: Tulip Girl

From her site:

T7 was tickled this morning when the doctor said he could come home
today. Hubby bundled up the three other boys and met me at the hospital
tonight. My heart felt so full seeing the reunion of all the boys and
how excited they were to see each other. The boys vyed for seats next
to T7 when we stopped at McDs on the way home. C4 kept saying, "You get
to sleep with ME tonight!" And I was just so happy to see Hubby. It’s
good to be home and all together again.

God’s Unlimited Power to Save

What happens to those who have never heard the Gospel? This addresses
the sweeping portions of the population which ranges from the heathen, the
mentally handicapped, the infants, the still-born and the miscarried. Eternal
life unto him who believes (Jn 3:15)?but
what if a person never heard?

Online Dictionary: Geeking-Frenzy

Geeking-Frenzy (verb) gee-king frehn-zee : The activity that
occurs on a message board or blogging portal where a commenter responds to the
post with a ?Geek Ref? (reference from Geekdom history, culture or vernacular).
This single post will inevitably draw other Geeks via search engines or sheer
Irresistible Geek-Grace to post in an exponentially geekier manner. The
activity usually is harmless but creates such a Geek-stench that Norms (normal
people) find themselves repulsed by the posts and may steer clear from a blog
(web log)  for days if not weeks.

[Of import, this is not sparked by ?Trolls? which are
usually quite violent and always turn whatever post back to their pet-topic and
damnations on all who deny them]

Irresistible Geek-Grace: Geekeological term. Firmly places
the free will of an actively-seeking-to-speak Geek under the drawing power of
girls, the chance to trump Norms, or anything from Geekdom (technology, comics,
etc.)

From your friendly resident Geek.

Hat-Tip Extravaganza

  • Same sex marriages allowed in New York.
I wonder at the potential danger towards tax-exempt religious gatherings. (HT:
    Evangelical Outpost)
  • Does the Cosmos reveal a Creator? Apparently. (HT: Rebecca
    Writes
    )
  • Men demanding answers from God. My responses to sarcasm are
rarely kind?I wonder how God responds to that when 6 feet of flesh stands on it?s
high legs and raises the fist? (I stumbled across this on google)
  • A Defense of the Crusades? I?m not too sure how much I would
be defending them. (HT: Minor Prophet)
  • Playboy develops a video game. Are we really surprised about
    this one? (HT: Welton?s Blog)
  • 25 Most Influential Evangelicals in America from Time Magazine (HT: Do They Research)

And the Geek Links because I haven’t done it in a while:

  • Ipods popular amongst Microsoft Employees. (Probably because a)
they can afford it and b) everyone should have at least one apple product as a
    time piece) (HT: blogma)
  • Daniel makes the leap to Apple with the new and sleek
mini-mac. I couldn?t help poking some friendly fun.  I actually enjoy Apples and PC’s and all things electronic.
