The results are in from my Best Movie of All Time poll.
Although The Lord of the Rings: The Two
Towers came in a near second, no one really thought any of the options were
worthy of
number one. In fact, after several conversations
online and off, it
was brought to my embarrassed attention that my poll was woefully skewed by the
dreadful exclusion of The Princess Bride (I
can?t believe I don?t own it either). That being the case, I will back out from
the deep end of the pool, having adequately proven my complete lack of foresight.
This question comes from my dear brother in Christ, Doug
from Coffeeswirls. If Star Wars was released as a new series today?what would
the main Darth Vader type villain be
like? I LOVED this question so I had to
put up the poll. Note that I will base my generalizations from current movie
culture in the hope that I will strike closer to the mark.

If you travel in and around the Queens area, you will be exposed to several different cooking styles. Some of these styles may be featured in some local eateries where one can spend a decent dollar to have a meal. Recently, I?ve noticed something odd happening in the non-commercial cooking community?people are splitting down cookery lines!

According to Romans 7, is Paul describing a pre-conversion experience
or a post-conversion experience? Why aren’t we perfect after being
justified and reckoning ourselves dead? Is there even a problem that we
should be aware of? What is a believers current relation to sin?
Is a dichotomous lifestyle applauded by Paul in Romans 7 (as in
Christian in the inside, but continually sinful in the flesh? What does
the flow of thought tell us?
Update: We worked out the study over in this section
here and
Romans 8.

It?s pretty funny how easily heresy creeps in. Sure it might
take a while to come up with especially if it?s going to be really convincing.
You know, the mulling it over, making the new concept taste right, justifying
it in Scripture and convincing yourself. Yet, when it makes its first
appearance it does so in such a manner that the non-Berean ear may sit there
unaware, smiling and maybe even ?Amen?ing. To see it happen before your eyes is
outright scary.

?Are you the King of the Jews?? asked Pilate (John 18:33). He was in the Praetorium and full of his own
authority while this bloodied Jew unsteadily stood there. Jesus asked if this
was an original idea or if he heard others talking about Him (John 18:34). Now Pilate dares Jesus to take a stand
against or with His people: ?Your own nation and the chief priests gave you
up?what have you done??
Why was the King of the Jews standing there, bloodied and defenseless? And
how would He answer? Would He shower theological fire to prove the man?s
futility? Would He summon a legion of fighting angels? And if we are His
servants, what does this tell us about the way we are to defend Christ in this
world?

Fine, a lot of Christians don?t believe Christ died on Friday. Even more Christians think that there shouldn?t be a special day marked out for remembering the Lord?everyday should be saturated with thanks giving and praise for what He has done. I applaud those who point out the pagan practices inherit in Easter versus the truth of the Lord?s crucifixion. It still saddens me that I?ve looked across several God-bloggers and have seen more focus on Terry Schiavo than Christ and what He did.
Don?t get me wrong?pointing out the World?s hypocrisy in this case is well and good?but this is a time of year where Christians should be waving the banner of the Crucified and now risen Christ. Here then are several links which point to Christ for introspection, reflection and encouragement.

On a hill outside of Jerusalem they crucified Him. Not satisfied with His death, some one even complain about the words on Jesus? cross ?This is Jesus the Nazarene, the King of the Jews?. Others would stand by sneering that ?He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is the Christ of God, His Chosen One.? (Luke 23:35). The soldiers would mock Him. Even the criminals on the crosses next to Him would taunt Him. But the Lord didn?t respond to the taunts of men.

I don’t know who launched the attack, but it doesn’t look like the Archive will stand a chance against the invading
Martian forces! You can also check out the dinosaur and the nukes. So cool.

Last week, we listened in on some of the Lord?s upper room teaching. We witnessed His hands washing the disciples feet then dipping into the sop and offering Judas another chance to turn from what He planned. I want to look back into that same evening and see those hands breaking bread.

Jesus returned to Jerusalem
on Monday. Yesterday?s events still reverberated throughout Jerusalem.
He had wept as he approached Jerusalem and now, as He approached the very heart
of the city of God?s chosen people, His heart was filled with a zealous anger
again (John 2:17).

The people rejoicing caught up in the rush of it all while the disciples shouted loudly, praising God. People took off their coats and lay it on the floor while others rushed to Palm trees, took branches and lay them on the dirt. Now they praised Him?in a few days they would reject Him.

I had originally planned this super-intelligent series of
posts where I would chronologically cover each of the events during Jesus?
final week. The series was going to be incisive, illustrate connections of
thought, move the soul and be most satisfying for my own personal studies.

I?m looking over Romans 6 again and just thinking about that bit about being buried with Jesus and being raised from the
dead with Christ. That whole walk in the newness of life just rings a bit hollow when I think about my constant stumbling into sin. It can happen on the spur of the moment or after some pre-planning. Bam! There goes that tongue again. Oh no! Here comes anger! Over and over and over and over again. Duck! That was pride!
