Baptism Necessary for Salvation?

Recently a person commented on one of my posts which was a
general call to salvation. I distinctly remember not intending to write the
post and in fact, had another article planned. I was doing my own personal
study and was moved to really post the gospel. By the grace of God several
people responded to it and wondered about salvation, praise God. The
commentator summed up the article as being fatally deficient…the fact that
baptism wasn’t mentioned.

The Return of the Jedi -tmp(WBT)

Call it part of my heretical mindset. Attribute it to my
fallen nature. Lock me up as a sheer lunatic. The following may take some of
you (few) readers by surprise and the rest of you (good sane folk who don?t
read the Archive) likely won?t care. When I was growing up I wanted to be a
Jedi. I still do.

Woes of A Love Letter

There once was a young man named Nicky. Nicky had his eyes
on Jen for quite some time. He would look longingly at her and sometimes he
would catch her brown eyes looking back at him. Finally he screwed up the
courage to write her a letter which confessed his love for her.

Russ on Limited Atonement

Those
of you who have kept up with these posts know how this works?if you don?t like
jokes, skip to The Beginning of the Article, though IMHO, you?ll be
missing out on a really good one. In either case, I have once again gone way
beyond the 1,000 word maximum and won?t even try to get it close. So, if you
skim, it?ll be your loss :).

Sy and Elayna Picture

An adorable pic that I took with my wife’s new digital camera. The pic may be too large and the colors are a bit out of wack. Still playing with the settings though. Also, my Romans series will be on Pause until Russ finishes up TULIPS (another post coming up Monday, so stick around!). I don’t want to cover ground that’s going to be crossed and this way, I can focus on the text without argueing about my salvation or how I’m in error. :)

Well, Sy and Elayna, I know you?ve been wondering just when
I would get to this. I see the hungry look in your eyes as you ask without
knowing ?what is the trinity?? Daddy is intuitive with this sort of stuff and I
know you?re ready for it.

Anthrophilus, how do I possibly begin to set in order all the things
concerning Jesus Christ so as to make you believe? I do not have
neither perfect knowledge or understanding. We find ourselves in equal
footing on that regard, both of us saying that we have an answer to
humanity’s problem but both of us can’t possibly be right. Your answer
may be humanity but mine is God.

I think our conversation stalled here and it was probably my
thoughts on faith
that may have done it. So let me elaborate and see whether
this is something that can be considered or not.

Russ on Unconditional Election

WARNING: I?m sure some people felt that after my last post that I
deceived them into reading far more than the typical 1,000 word entry
into a blog. I did this by inserting them into the middle of a dialogue
which removed both introduction and prefatory material. It was not my
intent to deceive?and I ask for forgiveness. It is my promise this time
that by reading the material after the statement that says IT DOESN’T
MATTER AS LONG AS WE LOVE EACH OTHER that you will be reading far more
than 1,000 words.  Don?t actually read that statement because it is the
punch line to a joke and you may actually be drawn in to the material
below that really has absolutely nothing to do with the actual topic,
is really nothing more than the crazy connection in my
bowl-of-spaghetti-like mind of ?election? and ?electricity?, and thus
exponentially increases the words you will read. So, just to be clear,
read all the material after IT DOESN’T MATTER AS LONG AS WE LOVE EACH
OTHER
and you will be able to stick far closer to the 1,000 word
maximum (though, it?s not really even close).

Link Confessions

Still tired but I will resume posting next week I?m sure. You can also
come back on Monday for Brother Russ? next installment in his TULIPS
series?a reading from a non-Calvinist perspective. His post on Total Depravity has probably
become the most commented article on the Archive. In the meantime, here
are some links from around the wwwURLd.

Roll With The Punches: A Message

At last we meet, Elder Brother?am I everything you imagined I would be? Of course not, heh heh. Indeed, as your very loud and active imagination ran rampant, reeking havoc on your surroundings, I would listen and learn. Oh, I acclimated myself to you?but have you done so towards me? ?will you?

Russ on Total Depravity

WARNING: I?m told that most bloggers will not read more than 1,000
words without beginning to skim the article. If you are one of these
people, you need to skip to the section below that states ONLY A
THOUSAND MORE WORDS TO GO. If, on the other hand, you are someone who
doesn?t like long introductions, and just need to skip to the ?meat? of
the article, you?ll want to scroll to the section that starts THE POINT
WHERE THE ARTICLE ACTUALLY BEGINS.

Remember Monday and a Warning

Remember to come back tomorrow when I have guest blogger Pastor Russ, a Christian brother I met over at Tim’s site,
who is going to be working on a Non-Calvinist series called TULIPS. His
Monday post will focus on his view on Total Depravity. I’m sure I don’t have to remind you to be gracious to our guest blogger and to focus your commentary to the topic at hand. Eventually he will finish his series and perhaps I’ll invite a Calvinist brother to present TULIPS. Don’t worry, this is a preprogrammed post. :)
