Grant, Almighty God, that as thou shinest on us by thy word, we may not be blind at midnight, nor wilfully seek darkness, and thus lull our minds asleep: but may we be roused daily by thy words, and may we stir up ourselves more and more to fear thy name and thus present ourselves and all our pursuits, as a sacrifice to thee, that thou mayest peaceably rule, and perpetually dwell in us, until thou gatherest us to thy celestial habitation, where there is reserved for us eternal rest and glory through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O Lord, Almighty God of our fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and of their righteous seed; who did create heaven and earth, with all their beautiful adornments;

who has bound the sea by the word of your commandment; who has shut up the deep, and sealed it by thy terrible and glorious name; whom all men fear, and tremble before your power;

for the majesty of your glory cannot be borne, and your anger threatening toward sinners is importable: but your merciful promise is immeasurable and unsearchable;

for you are the most high Lord, of great compassion, longsuffering, very merciful, and turns against the evils of men.

You, O Lord, according to your great goodness has promised repentance and forgiveness to them that have sinned against thee: and of your infinite mercies has appointed repentance unto sinners, that they may be saved.

You therefore, O Lord, that are the God of the just, has not appointed repentance to the just, as to Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, which have not sinned against thee; but you have appointed repentance unto me—a sinner: for the number of my sins are greater than the sands of the sea.

My transgressions, O Lord, are multiplied: my transgressions are multiplied, and I am not worthy to behold and see the height of heaven for the multitude of my iniquities.

I am bowed down with many iron bands, that I cannot life up my head, neither have any release: for I have provoked your wrath, and done evil before you: I did not your will, neither kept I your commandments: I have set up abominations, and have multiplied offences.

Now therefore I bow the knee of my heart, begging you for grace.

I have sinned, O Lord, I have sinned, and I acknowledge my iniquities: wherefore, I humbly beg you , forgive me, O Lord, forgive me, and destroy me not with my iniquities. Be not angry with me forever, by reserving evil for me; neither condemn me to the lower pares of the earth.

For you are the God, even the God of them that repent; and in me you will show all your goodness: for you will save me, that am unworthy, according to your great mercy.

Therefore I will praise you for ever all the days of my life: for all the powers of the heavens do praise you, and yours is the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Then Tobit wrote a prayer of rejoicing, and said, blessed be God that lives forever, and blessed be his kingdom. For he both scourges and has mercy: he leads down to hell, and brings up again: neither is there any that can avoid his hand.

Confess him before the Gentiles, you children of Israel: for He has scattered us among them. There declare his greatness, and extol him before all the living: for he is our Lord, and he is the God our Father forever. And he will punish us for our iniquities, and will have mercy again, and will gather us out of all nations, among whom he scattered us.

If you turn to him with your whole heart, and with your whole mind, and deal uprightly before him, then will he turn towards you, and will not hide his face from you. Therefore see what he will do with you, and confess him with your whole mouth, and praise the Lord of might, and extol the everlasting King.

In the land of my captivity do I praise him, and declare his might and majesty to a sinful nation. O you sinners, turn and do justice before him: who can tell if he will accept you, and have mercy on you?

I will lift up  my God, and my soul shall praise the King of heaven, and shall rejoice in his greatness. Let all men speak, and let all praise him for his righteousness.

O Jerusalem, the holy city, he will punish you for thy children’s works, and will have mercy again on the sons of the righteous.

Give praise to the Lord, for he is good: and praise the everlasting King, that his tabernacle may be rebuilt in you with joy, and let him make joyful there in you those that are captives, and love in you for ever those that are miserable.

Many nations shall come from far to the name of the Lord God with gifts in their hands, even gifts to the King of heaven; all generations shall praise you with great joy. Cursed are all they which hate you, and blessed shall all be which love you for ever.

Rejoice and be glad for the children of the just: for they shall be gathered together, and shall bless the Lord of the just.

O blessed are they which love you, for they shall rejoice in your peace: blessed are they which have been sorrowful for all your chastening; for they shall rejoice for you, when they have seen all your glory, and shall be glad for ever.

Let my soul bless God the great King. For Jerusalem shall be built up with sapphires and emeralds, and precious stone: your walls and towers and battlements with pure gold. And the streets of Jerusalem shall be paved with beryl and carbuncle and stones of Ophir. And all her streets shall say, Alleluia; and they shall praise him, saying, Blessed be God, which hath extolled it forever.

LORD God of Israel, there is no God in heaven above or on earth below like You, who keep Your covenant and mercy with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts. You have kept what You promised Your servant David my father; You have both spoken with Your mouth and fulfilled it with Your hand, as it is this day. Therefore, LORD God of Israel, now keep what You promised Your servant David my father, saying, ‘You shall not fail to have a man sit before Me on the throne of Israel, only if your sons take heed to their way, that they walk before Me as you have walked before Me.’ And now I pray, O God of Israel, let Your word come true, which You have spoken to Your servant David my father.

But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built! Yet regard the prayer of Your servant and his supplication, O LORD my God, and listen to the cry and the prayer which Your servant is praying before You today: that Your eyes may be open toward this temple night and day, toward the place of which You said, ‘My name shall be there,’ that You may hear the prayer which Your servant makes toward this place. And may You hear the supplication of Your servant and of Your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. Hear in heaven Your dwelling place; and when You hear, forgive.
