Christian Carnival 225 is up

The Christian Carnival is up at Parableman and he’s also looking for hosts for upcoming Carnivals. I would love to do it again but I’ve been slammed with projects recently.

Assuming Assumptions

Why even have assumptions anyway? I mean, why can’t I simply study The Church without any assumptions whatsoever, like a theological tabula rasa?

In my last post there was an assumption which I didn’t bother bringing attention to but which colored the entire post. That being that New Testament Principles in the Church is a worthy stake to claim. With two thousand years of Church history that sort of assumption should raise a couple of serious questions.

Angry Test Post

There is no reason but an unknown one.

A specific folder in my server (the blog folder) for some reason left the content folder password protected to no one and the main blog folder needed to be chmodded all the way down to the core to allow certain actions: I don’t know why. It’s not like I’ve done any changes or even sneezed near my blog yet for some reason it up and blocked me for weeks.

A Calvinist would say that this was predetermined. An Arminian would say that if I persevered I would’ve come through this all right. A Calminian would say “Can’t we all get along?” A Dispensationalist would’ve pointed out that it was a judgment on my blog that ended the Last Age. A Covenant Theologian would point out that the new stage of my blog is merely a further revelation of the Old therefore many of the elements are the same if not completely transposed spiritually. A Traditionalist would say that I should be motivated to post only in Psalms while a Contemporary-ist (?) would say that I should lift up my voice with the timbrel and dance.

Either way, I think I’m back in business. Blogging to resume on the morrow.

Dark Confession

So I’ve got this backend manager that makes links to the ESV
Bible to make references easier to look up for folk. The script was made
available by one of the professional mambrothers and it is based on
Scripturizer from Scott Yang. Now, my dark admission…

Mary, Moms and Mayhem

I thought of it for mother?s day, I really did. "Just a look
at the mother?s in the New Testament" I said one day. Then I thought about Mary (Miriam actually) and started
doing a study on all the Mary?s  in the New Testament (which some
folk like to confuse). But I’m still in the middle of my Romans series and this recent post is killer rough,
while starting to think about Ephesians and worrying about Elisha and Elijah or
just when am I going to finish up Daniel or post something about Wives or get back on dueling with dead men?then I
decided, that I?m nuts. So I?ll post another history of study notes so that you
can take it up and do something with it, which I can not.

Speaking Their Language

“Habona-Grits Habona-Hits”. Not Hebrew. My son’s name for this large pipe-like
contraption which is nestled in the corner of our co-op’s garage. For
the longest I didn’t have the foggiest clue why he would start singing
those words when we went down there but when I finally figured out what
Ha-BAH-na GRITS – Ha-BAH-na-HITS was I was still puzzled.

The Observance of the Lord?s Day

As the sabbath was instituted to celebrate the old creation, so the
Lord?s day celebrates the New Creation. Throughout this age the most Spirit-filled,
devout believers to whom the will of God has been clearly revealed, have kept the
Lord?s day apart from any sense of responsibility to keep the seventh day. It is
reasonable to suppose that had they been guilty of sabbath breaking, they would have been
convicted of that sin.
