\nheart when he emphasized the importance of seeing the discussions in the book
\nof John in light of the miracles, the Jew?s failure to provide an explanation
\nof the miracles and their subsequent repeated rejection of the Christ. Jeremy
\ncalled this an ?inference to the best explanation? if not a very good deductive
\nargument.<\/o:p>
<\/p>\n

Priori accepted by the Jews: <\/span>The Father is Good<\/o:p><\/p>\n

The claim: <\/span>"I am the Good Shepherd" (10:11<\/st1:time>)<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Result of the claim: <\/span>"The Father loves me because I lay
\ndown my life for the sheep" (10:17<\/st1:time>)<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Evidence of the claim:<\/span> "The works that I do I do in my
\nFather’s name" (10:25<\/st1:time>)<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Problem with the claim:<\/span> "You don’t believe me because
\nyou’re not my sheep" (10:26<\/st1:time>)<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Partial Agreement with the evidence: <\/span>They agree that his
\nworks are good (10:33<\/st1:time>)<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Acceptance of Partial Evidential Agreement:<\/span> Don’t believe me
\nbut believe my works (10:37<\/st1:time>)<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Partial Evidential Agreement bears examination of the Entire
\nClaim to have full acceptance:<\/span> "If you believe the works to be good then
\nyou’ll know that the Father is in me and I am in the Father" (10:38<\/st1:time>)<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Conclusion:<\/span> A sheep may not believe the Shepherd he doesn’t
\nknow, but if the sheep believes the works to be good he can follow the works to
\ntrust the Shepherd.<\/p>\n
