The top 5 heroes of all time?how am I supposed to write
\nabout that? MCF is having another blog<\/a> party and I?m supposed to bring
\nsomething that has an Archive flavor (quiet, not<\/span> old and stuffy!). Trying this
\nafter the Best Movie of All Time fiasco<\/a>? <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

I think the scariest part is bringing something to a party
\nthat no one will try. You know, that odd looking jello-salad, fruit bits
\nfloating inside and a layer of mayo?looks completely unappetizing no matter how
\ngood it actually tastes. One would be tempted to make something that everyone
\nwould enjoy, like cookies but everyone brings cookies. <\/o:p><\/p>\n

So, I?m sure most people will be expecting comic heroes or
\nthe demi-gods of the silver screen?but I?m not going down that route this time<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jesus the Christ, God?s Anointed<\/span>
\nThe enemy in this situation was so great that it
\nnecessitated (if you allow the statement with a tremendous amount of reverence)
\na change in the Godhead. Existing before creation, one with God and being God,
\nThe Second Person of the Godhead became flesh and was born of a virgin women
\nright in the nick of time. His mission: no less than the rescue of humanity
\nfrom the curse of death, from the bondage to sin and slavery to His Satanic
\nMajesty, the Devil. Named Jesus according to the flesh, He humbly submitted
\nHimself to obedience. His testimony, and plan, culminated with His own
\ntorturous death on the cross at the judgment of His own creation, which God
\noverruled by raising Him up from the grave on the third day. <\/span>Jesus was then seen by Mary, the women, Peter,
\nJames and the twelve, the five hundred, and was caught up in the clouds 40 days
\nafter his resurrection. As He was seen going away, it was announced that He
\nwould return in like manner. Currently, in heaven, He sits at the right hand of
\nthe Father?the 2nd<\/sup> Person of the Trinity now as a man in the
\npresence of God. His rescue mission still not over, He assures that the ones
\nwho believe on Him and His sacrifice, not only will He save from the coming
\njudgment when He returns but He frees them from the need to be driven by sin
\nand makes intercession for them to the Father. Savior until the very end.<\/p>\n

The Apostle Paul<\/span>
\nBearing the two names of Paul (Greek) and Sha?ul (Hebrew),
\nthis man was taught by the eminent Gamaliel, a Rabbi of chief rank. The man was
\nversed in the Hebrew Scriptures, Greek philosophy, and poetry and had a firm
\ngrasp on the Roman law and his rights. Paul was on his way to be a Pharisee
\namong Pharisees, so much so that he persecuted the Church, the body of Christ.
\nThat was, until the day he encountered the resurrected Christ and faced the
\naccusation that he was persecuting Jesus Christ Himself. The Lord showed mercy
\nthough, because he did all this in ignorance and unbelief. From that day
\nforward he made it his mission to tell everyone of the tender mercies of David,
\nevidenced in the living son of David and the son of God with power, Jesus
\nChrist. Suffering scorning, beatings, ship-wreck, stoned and left for dead, and
\none embarrassing event of being lowered through the window in a basket to run
\naway…he counted it all rational service. It was by this man that God revealed
\nsome of the deepest mysteries ever. The gospel spread all the way to Rome<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>,
\nand the world, and this man rode the crest of the wave.<\/p>\n

Moses<\/span>
\nThe man Moshe, or Moses, is called the Apostle of the Jewish
\nconfession. God saved him from sure death at the hand of Pharaoh and
\nstrategically placed him under the very protection of the man. He would try to
\nfight for his people on his own steam, fail miserably, and come back years
\nlater as a fraction of the man he was before. Where he was loud mouthed, he was
\nnow afraid to speak. Where he was willing to kill for his cause, he was now a
\nman who wondered ?Why me?? This man went into the halls of Pharaoh, demanded
\nthe release of God?s people and eventually God worked wonders through him,
\nproving His Almighty reality. God did the rescuing, but He decided to use this
\nman as a hero of the faith. Through him the Jews were told how to survive the
\ncoming wrath of God, were rescued from the bondage of slavery under the power
\nof Pharaoh, and survived death in the crossing of the red sea. <\/p>\n

Hosea the son of Beeri<\/span>
\nA prophet of God, he willingly offered his family life to
\nthe word of God. His marriage became a testimony of God?s dealing with Israel<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>.
\nHe was told to marry a prostitute and have kids. He named the kids ?God
\nScatters?, ?No More Compassion? and ?Not My People?. His wife goes off and
\nbecomes a prostitute again, to the point that he could buy her off the slave
\nmarket for mere dollars. The point? That although Israel<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>
\nhas played the harlot, God would purchase her back. Though she spurned Him, He
\nloved her. Though she was scattered, and facing no compassion and were not His
\npeople, He would soon gather them together, show His love and now make them His
\npeople. To be such a testimony in his own life, Hosea becomes a hero. <\/p>\n

Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite<\/span>
\nShe?s the other woman who is blessed among woman?the one
\nthat people forget about when they start worshipping Mary. Her life was turned
\naround when she saw a hairy legged gentile hot-footing it towards her tent with
\nnervous looks shot over his shoulder. Sisera demanded respite in her home while
\nher man wasn?t home and she faced a dilemma. Say no and die or have her man
\nshow up and discover that there was another man in her tent. Wise in her
\nthinking, and trusting her womanly wiles, she invited him in and offered him a
\nlordly dish with warm cream, a nice blanket and a place to lay his head. Being
\na woman in charge of keeping the home, and the tent, stable, she picked up the
\ntools of her trade, placed a peg against his rested temple and drove it through
\nwith the hammer. It made quite a mess of things, but she put an end to his
\ngentile thinking. She got the praise for the battle and was memorialized in
\nScripture.\n<\/p>\n
