\n God is the defendant<\/p>\n 2) <\/span>
\n God?s righteousness by judgment and wrath<\/p>\n b. <\/span>
\n God?s wrath on those who suppress the truth of God?s eternal power and Godhead
\n (1:18-20)<\/p>\n c.
\n <\/span> God?s wrath on the Heathen\/Pagan (?Immoral?)<\/p>\n 1) <\/span>
\n Chapter 1 (v.32) left off with those who have gotten to a debased point and
\n knowing God?s judgment on the wickedness that they keep practicing, not only
\n keep doing it, but rejoice in those who do it with them.<\/p>\n 2. <\/span><\/b>
\n God?s Judgment on the ?Moral?<\/b><\/p>\n a.
\n <\/span> The ?Moral? Judge<\/p>\n 1) <\/span>
\n Condemns himself (2:1-3)<\/p>\n 2) <\/span>
\n God is giving him time to repent (2:4) and the ?moralist? despises this gift
\n that God has given him.<\/p>\n 3) <\/span>
\n Hardens his heart against God<\/p>\n 4) <\/span>
\n Treasures wrath for himself (2:5)<\/p>\n a) <\/span>
\n In the day of wrath and the revealing of God?s righteous judgment<\/p>\n 5) <\/span>
\n Introduced to God?s Judgment<\/p>\n a) <\/span>
\n By works<\/p>\n b) <\/span>
\n By the continuation of good works<\/p>\n c) <\/span>
\n With either eternity or tribulation as the reward or penalty<\/p>\n d) <\/span>
\n For the Jews first then the Greeks (Gentiles)<\/p>\n b. <\/span>
\n The Jew: ?Moralist? and Law ?Keeper?<\/p>\n 1) <\/span>
\n God shows no partiality (2:11)<\/p>\n a) <\/span>
\n His ?chosen? people under the law will be judged by that law, and those not
\n under the law will die without the law (2:12)<\/p>\n b) <\/span>
\n Law keeping is defined by those who keep the law verses those who hear the law:
\n Gentiles who keep the law have a law unto themselves because both get judged
\n by God through Jesus Christ according to the gospel Paul preaches(2:13-16)\n<\/p>\n c) <\/span>
\n Circumcision isn?t of the flesh but is of the Spirit (not Holy Spirit)?an inward
\n change verses outward because circumcision is perfect for law-keepers, but lawbreakers
\n have no place there. (2: 25-29)<\/p>\n 2) <\/span>
\n Jew boasts in God dishonors God by breaking His law<\/p>\n a) <\/span>
\n Even the Gentiles blaspheme the name of God because of the Jew?s outward religion.<\/p>\n 3) <\/span>
\n Advantage of the Jew<\/p>\n a) <\/span>
\n Many, but the chief advantage is that the oracles of God were committed to the
\n Jews (3:1-2)<\/p>\n (1) <\/span> Does this mean
\n that being God?s chosen people lets them be sinners that even with their unbelief
\n they?re still saved?<\/p>\n (a) <\/span> Of course
\n not. Let God be proved true and all men be proved to be liars.<\/p>\n b) <\/span>
\n No benefit when it comes to salvation (3:9)<\/p>\n 3. <\/span><\/b>
\n God?s Judgment on Humanity<\/b><\/p>\n a.
\n <\/span> Both Jews and Greeks (Gentiles) guilty (3: 9)<\/p>\n b. <\/span>
\n Both groups are under sin as previously charged (3: 9)<\/p>\n c.
\n <\/span> There is none righteous no not one, etc. (3:10-18)<\/p>\n 1) <\/span>
\n Quoting: Ps. 14:1-3; 53:1-3; Eccl. 7:20; Ps. 5:9; 140:3; Ps 10:7; Prov 1:16;
\n Is 59:7,8; Ps. 36:1<\/p>\n 2) <\/span>
\n Going through the condemned body parts of the man?condemned in his entirety?even
\n his mouth is like an open grave, putrid and foul.<\/p>\n d. <\/span>

\n Stops the mouth of man (3:19)<\/p>\n 2) <\/span>
\n Makes all guilty before God (3:20)<\/p>\n 3) <\/span>
\n Assures that by the deeds of the law, no flesh shall be justified ( 3:20)<\/p>\n 4) <\/span>
\n Is the knowledge of sin (3:20)<\/p>\n 4. <\/span><\/b>
\n Conclusion<\/b><\/p>\n a.
\n <\/span> Salvation doesn?t come by ignoring God<\/p>\n 1) <\/span>
\n That path is strewn with imminent wrath<\/p>\n b. <\/span>
\n Salvation doesn?t come by being ?moral?<\/p>\n 1) <\/span>
\n That path ends with heaped up wrath<\/p>\n c.
\n <\/span> Salvation doesn?t come by following the law<\/p>\n 1) <\/span>
\n That path ends with judgment based on the law<\/p>\n d. <\/span>
\n Salvation doesn?t come by works<\/p>\n 1) <\/span>
\n That path is littered with futility and destruction<\/p>\n 2) <\/span>
\n The law points out sin<\/p>\n e.
\n <\/span> In the cosmic trial, God?s righteousness (regarding God?s Judgment)
\n is valid because all of us are unrighteous<\/p>\n 1) <\/span>
\n Because we are unrighteous He must judge sin<\/p>\n 2) <\/span>
