Call it a paraphrase or commentary, here’s 1 Kings 21 and most of 22.

Naboth?s Vineyard in Jezreel beside Palace (1)
Ahab offers a trade or purchase of the vineyard because it was close to his house
(2)
Naboth refuses because it?s his God given inheritance (3) (cf. Lev. 25:23-28; Num. 36:7)

eat (4)

city (8)
Set a fast and put Naboth before the people (9)
Seat two scoundrels next to him who will accuse him, then
stone him to death (10)

  • Deut.
    17:6-7; Lev 24:16

The elders did as what was written (11 ? 13)
The elders send word of Naboth?s death (14)
Jezebel tells Ahab to get up and claim the property as his
because Naboth is dead (15)
Ahab went and took it (16)

God?s Proclamation
Word of the Lord comes to Elijah (17) saying
?Go down and meet Ahab in Naboth?s vineyard where he?s
taking possession of it (18)
Tell him that I know what he?s done and in that place where
Naboth blood was licked up by dogs, the same will happen to Ahab (19)
Ahab calls Elijah ?enemy? and Elijah points out that Ahab?s
evil is the cause of him finding Ahab (20)
God will bring evil upon Ahab and cut off every male from
Ahab?s house (21)
Ahab?s house to be like house of Jeroboam and like house of
Baasha (22)

  • Jeroboam
instituted copycat seceded, instituted copycat religion, and the Lord
clean swept that house (1 Kings 14:10; 1 Kings 15:29)
  • Baasha?s
    house to be like Jeroboam?s (1 Kings 16:3, 7, 11-13)

Also the dogs will eat Jezebel in the district of Jezreel
(23)
The one that belongs to Ahab the dogs will eat, the one who
dies in the field the birds of heaven will eat (24)

  • phrase
repeated for Jeroboam 1 Kings 14:11; for Baasha 1 Kings 16:4

Commentary
No one like Ahab sold himself to do evil because Jezebel his
wife incited him (25)
He acted abominably in following idols like the Amorites
(26)

Ahab heard the words and put on sackcloth and fasted and was
despondent (27)
The Lord shows mercy in Ahab?s days (29)

22
Three years since the Aphek battle (1)
Jehoshaphat?s 3rd Year meeting with Ahab (2)

hands (3)
Will you Jehoshaphat join me in battle? (4)
I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your
horses (4) says Jehoshaphat
First, inquire of the Lord (5)

The
Prophets Testimony

Ahab gathers 400 prophets and asks them about his plans and
they say he will win (6)
Jehoshaphat asks for a prophet of the Lord (7)
There is Micaiah but I hate him because he always prophesies
evil about me (8)
Micaiah summoned by Ahab (9)
All the prophets prophesied before the kings (10)
One guy even made horns of iron saying that the king would
gore with these (11)
The prophets were saying ?Go take it for God will give it to
the king? (12)

Micaiah?s Testimony

Micaiah says he?ll speak what the Lord says to him (14)
Ahab asks him and he says that the Lord will give it into
his hand (15)
The king says why don?t you tell me the truth, liar. (16)
So Micaiah told him that the Israelites would be scattered
without master (17)
Ahab says, I told you he never has anything good to say
about me (18)
Micaiah gave him the message from the Lord of hosts (19)
about a council
Where the Lord asks who will entice Ahab to go up and die?
(20)
Then one spirit said ?I?ll entice him? (21)
Then the Lord said ?How?? and the spirit said that it would
be a deceiving spirit (22)

  • This
reminds me of the great deception
sent by God to those who do not receive the love of truth (2 Thes 4:8-11)
so that they could believe the lie
  • It
strikes me as God giving people over to their reprobate mind (Rom 1)

Entice him and prevail (22)
The deceiving spirit is in the mouth of all these prophets
(23)
Zedekiah slaps Micaiah asking when God?s Spirit went to
Micaiah (24)
Micaiah says he?ll know when he finds himself hiding in an
inner room (25)
Ahab says to put Micaiah in prison until I come back safely
(26)
Micaiah says if Ahab comes back safe the Lord hasn?t spoken
to him?listen people (27)
