Elijah: The Place and Setting

The stories of Elijah?s life may not be as famous as David and Goliath, but they are just as powerful and descriptive. Elijah, standing on Mt. Carmel laughing at the worshippers of Baal suggesting that they speak up?perhaps their god is out to eat or something. Or perhaps we may remember Elijah, his heart melted as he wishes that he could die.

Legalized Sex-4-Sale

Some folks might say that we?re heading towards a utopia
where there is no homelessness and no war and maybe, one day, no religion. This
is a sad state of affairs when a woman who refuses to work in a brothel may
loose her unemployment coverage (HT: The Write Jerry)

Sadly, once the government endorses this type of law, this
is the lunacy that we?re left with. I’m posting the whole article under the "read more" just in case this disappears from the web.

Dying and Elijah

I woke up this morning and wasn?t feeling too kosher. Things felt a bit too?tactile. Everything seemed a tad too bright. By 10:30 my head felt heavy and my taste buds were losing sensation. My bagel didn?t taste that good and my orange juice would prove useless. By lunch time my head was spinning but I had to get out anyway and by 2:00, the room couldn?t stop moving and I was shivering with my coat on. I left at 3:30 and slept like a corpse. I think I have the flu.

That all aside, I?m currently doing a character study on Elijah and feel the need to ask you?who was Elijah? What was so special about his ministry? In what context did he preach? Directing your eyes: 1 Kings 16 (end) and full force in 1 Kings 17.

Coffeeswirls Plug

Doug over at Coffeeswirls looks at what can be the greatest threat to Christianity. James’ words warning of divisions and the danger of the tongue come to mind. Good post and I think part of both our concerns with words in the God-blogosphere.
