Virginia Tech…32 dead: why? The question that always comes up after something like this is: how can there be a good God if there is so much evil in the world? How come he doesn’t stop it right now?

“How can It be wrong if God made me this way?” That was the quote from a recent Law and Order Special Victim’s Unit where a gay Christian young man realized that his pastor father had killed his lover. The young man was part of an extremist group of Christians who performed plays depicting sinners screaming and burning in hell. But his question got me thinking: was he on point?

What have I been up to? Nothing besides running around with two kids and the third on his (or her?we’re not finding out the sex) way. Here’s Week 19 Sonogram.
Rebecca has a post looking at the word propitiation, its usage and a challenge to figure out another word that can fit in its place. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your bend in modern bible translations) I’m all for the actual word propitiation but I also readily admit that there might be a shift of usage depending on the Biblical author. Paul might be making an allusion to the OT mercy seat and John may be referring to what the mercy seat offering accomplished in a general sense. So whereas Paul might be saying "God publicly (instead of behind a veil) revealed the place where God’s wrath was turned away and satisfied in the person of His Son on the cross" John would be saying "Jesus Christ is the atoning sacrifice for the world, but for us believers especially."
Be that as it may, I’ll play and try to update (if not dumb down) the actual word.
Mohler (HT: Tim–>Links Below) tells parents to be careful with television and children by first showing an excerpt from recent research showing a statistical relationship with autism and television viewing. People, don’t get me wrong—kids shouldn’t be spending hours in front of the TV, but honestly—Christians, just because you read a bit of research don’t immediately wave it as your banner!
