I had a conversation with a buddy of mine in church in regards to the Chronology of the passion narrative: specifically when the Lord’s Supper occurred in light of John’s seemingly odd chronology (cf. John 19 where Christ’s crucifixion is said to be happening on the Day of Preparation for the Passover).
My buddy supplied me with a publisher document which I won’t share since it’s his own but I will supply my version of his chart in conjunction with my own chart. Interesting to me anyway was the fact that I did this a long time ago and had forgotten about it pulling a Jeremy.
My buddy’s chart on top, my chart’s on the bottom: the only difference really is that I think John’s Day of Preparation is for the Feast of Unleavened Bread whereas my buddy thinks that there was a private Passover the night before and a real sacrifice the next day.
So when was Jesus Crucified? On a Friday AM before a High Sabbath which would have been the happy coincidence (lol) of the Feast of Unleavened bread (mandatory Sabbath) landing on the actual Sabbath? The Lambs then would’ve been slaughtered at the temple on Thursday AM and the meal eaten on Thursday PM which is officially, Passover Day.
