Retro, Metro, Heteros

Picking up a link from Challies A La Carte feature, I wond up getting exposed to a discussion about a culture war happening with God-Bloggers. Marla
offers the chart not so much as a definition of the bloggers Challies
and iMonk (as some may have taken it to be) or even as supporting one
side over the other—but merely to show that most bloggers have areas of
interest that lie in both categories.

In Memorium – September 11, 2001

No matter where you are in the surrounding boroughs, as long
as you have a good enough view of Manhattan, you
should be able to see the memorial lights of the Twin Towers

their luminance skyward so that anyone passing around the City on the highways
can look and see those lights and remember what happened on Tuesday, September
11, 2001.

Remembering Denise: A Co-Worker’s Funeral

So many thoughts come rushing in when you’re sitting at a funeral. It’s
like a whirlwind, really, looking at faces and wondering what’s going
in his or her mind or how is this person staying strong. Sometimes
you’ll catch snippets of conversation, reflections on “how great” the
deceased looks. I found myself tapping into that whirlwind to try to
suppress the sensation of self-loathing that I felt caught somewhere
between my eyes and throat.
