Methods of Interpretation

Take a look at brother David Wayne’s site for his conviction on
Reformed amillennialism and his reasoning behind the binding of Satan.
The first post is mostly anecdotal while his second is more an
apologetic of his thinking. One of the things that stood out for me was
David’s use of the recapitulation method of interpretation of
Scripture, which I find faulty.

Don’t Know Much About Heresy

Cooke’s “Wonderful World” is about a man who doesn’t know much of anything but the fact that he loves his girl. In the hopes of her loving him back he aims to be number one, but he knows he’s woefully inept. Sometimes we can be like that when it comes to alternate Christian beliefs and sometimes we use words like heresy to describe these beliefs. Linking to the Archive, Curt noted that his illustration, in proximity to me, wound up having heretical ramifications (which he denies) and we wound up discussing (offline) what exactly defines a heresy and how does one deal with it.

Genesis Lifetimes -tmp(Gen 5)

I haven’t been posting much of my Bible studies as of late
(to my embarrassment and personal detriment) winding up shooting more from the
hip sometimes late at night or in some down time in the morning while eating a
bagel. This kind of posting, though, has proved exceedingly unfruitful since
I’ve wound up getting into arguments where I wouldn’t have
before.

The Error of Infant Baptism

Baptizing infants. Why is it done? Is it Biblical? Does it matter?
Jollyblogger did a series on it some time ago and I carefully avoided
speaking about the subject so as not to become a bandwagon-jumper.
Currently dealing with baptism I am brought to the point to discuss
this matter that many Christians, both Protestant and Catholic, hold
dear.

Paul On Baptism -tmp(1 Cor 1:14-18)

After looking at baptism as used in the Peter passage we
could rule out the idea that Peter is making a statement about salvation and
the nature of water.
Of course, we could easily see how pulling something out
of context can establish a false doctrine (baptising saves, baptising
the dead, or infants). But, before I move onto those types of things
I want to look at something Paul said regarding baptism which shouldn’t
minimize the mandate but it should, in the very least, put it in its
proper
perspective.
